Spector Gadon & Rosen, P.C. has announced that John Da Grosa Smith has joined the firm as a Member of the Commercial Litigation Group and Real Estate Litigation Group. With the addition of Smith, the firm expands its presence to Atlanta, Ga., in addition to offices in Philadelphia, Pa., St. Petersburg, Fla., New York, N.Y. and Marlton, N.J.
Prior to joining the firm, Smith was Managing Principal for 10 years in his own private practice, SMITH LLC, a boutique business litigation firm headquartered in Atlanta where Smith earned a reputation for aggressively, creatively and successfully litigating difficult, high-stakes, high-profile cases and providing outside general counsel services to high-net worth individuals and corporations.
“We are excited to have John as a part of our continued growth and success,” said firm Chairman Paul R. Rosen. “John’s aggressive approach and success record is a perfect match for Spector Gadon & Rosen, which shares a similar reputation. We are distinguished by our aggressive, highly skilled attorneys who give the best client service possible.”
Smith’s experience is rooted in complex litigation matters from around the country within a cross-spectrum of civil practice areas and select criminal cases. Coverage of the firm’s matters has appeared in Bloomberg, U.S. News & World Report, The Legal Intelligencer, Daily Report, Law 360, The Guardian, and numerous other national and international publications. Prior to managing his own practice, Smith served a five-year tenure as an Associate in the general litigation group of an Atlanta-based law firm, with a concentration in securities.
A Philadelphia native, Smith began his legal career as a prosecutor at the Office of the Philadelphia District Attorney. Smith’s late father, the Honorable Samuel Smith, served as a Judge on the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. As an accomplished trial lawyer in Philadelphia prosecuting hundreds of cases involving major felonies such as attempted murder, assault, theft and narcotics violations, he set out to develop a strong business background outside the practice of law by joining top-tier consulting firm Accenture. As a consultant in Chicago, he worked in telecommunications for AT&T and Bell South, where he developed and implemented business and technology strategies to help carriers compete in local markets in response to the major deregulation measures of the 1990s.
Smith received a J.D. from Temple University School of Law, and a B.A. from the University of Scranton. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
